Travel Options

Travel along the M6 to junction 38 and cross the first roundabout at the second exit, straight on, to stay on the A685 travelling east. Continue on the A685 for approximately 12 miles, through Kirkby Stephen until you come to a right turn labelled Gap Lane. Turn right onto Gap Lane. At the end of Gap Lane you’ll come to a T junction. Hill House is diagonally opposite to the junction to the right.

From the A1(M) take exit 53 at Scotch Corner and follow signs for the A66 west. Travel along the A66 for approximately 28 miles. Take the exit for Brough off the A66 and follow the A685 south towards Kirkby Stephen. After 2.7 miles look for a left turn onto Gap Lane, after Eden Farm Supplies. At the end of Gap Lane you’ll come to a T junction. Hill House is diagonally opposite to the junction to the right.

The nearest train station is in Kirby Stephen which is approximately 3 miles away. There are local taxis you can call, you can walk or cycle or there is a bus that stops at the end of Gap Lane. Buses following this route are the 563, 571, 572 and S6. Check out timetables online before you travel to ensure minimal waiting times.

If you’re coming from further afield or internationally, the nearest airports are Manchester or New Castle. From the airport, you can hire a car or hop on a train to make your way to Winton Village.
